Moto droid problems??

so i piked up my phone and it was black (the screen) and the screen was unresponsive and blank. and i tried hard reset and leaving the battery out overnite and leaving the phone charging overnight. The screen just gets a little bit brighter when i plug it in. Verizon is sending me a new one but my contacts werent synced with gmail so i wont have any contacts. please help is there anything else to try?????
