Memory on my phone is corrupt? Lost all images?

On my phone it won't show any of my files(images, video, music) but it does say the external memory (a 4gb memory card) is full. If it's saying this, i don't understand why it won't let me view anything? When I use put it into the computer it says 'disk is corrupt and unreadable'. Does this mean all my files are lost????
